 1. The role of packaging
 
Prevent contact with rain water, sunlight, moist air and impurities and chemical reaction;
 
Reduce the collision, vibration, friction and extrusion during transportation to ensure safe transportation;
 
Prevent the leakage, volatilization and contact with incompatible goods;
 
It is convenient for loading and unloading, handling and storage.
 
2. Packing category
 
For all dangerous goods except category 1, 2, 6.2 and 7, the transport packaging can be classified into three grades according to the degree of danger:
 
Class I packaging: suitable for high-risk goods;
 
Class II packaging: suitable for moderately dangerous goods;
 
Class III packaging: suitable for low-risk goods.

3. The general requirements of packaging are suitable;
 
The packaging should have a certain strength and be able to withstand the general risks of waterway transportation;
 
The sealing of the package shall conform to the nature of the dangerous goods contained;
 
There should be proper padding between the inner and outer packing;
 
Packaging should be able to withstand a certain range of temperature and humidity changes;
 
According to the international regulations for handling, loading and unloading, the maximum volume and weight should be 400 kg and 450 kg respectively
 
4. Marking and marking of packages
 
Each package containing dangerous goods shall be marked with a durable marking of the correct transport name of its contents and, if there is a corresponding UN number.
 
All packages containing dangerous goods shall display the durable marks of the characteristics of the dangerous goods contained therein. The signs on the package shall not fall off after being immersed in sea water for three months in accordance with the provisions of the international hazard code, and the design and text are still clear and legible.
 
Size of sign: the mark on the package shall not be less than 100x100 mm
 
The marks on containers and removable tanks shall not be less than 250x250mm
 
How to use the sign: Box: at both ends; barrel: on the cover or body of the barrel; container: on the four sides of the box, and the secondary sign should usually be displayed at the bottom left of the main sign.
 
5. Code and marking of package type

A -- Steel B -- aluminum C -- natural wood D -- plywood F -- recycled wood G -- fiberboard h -- plastic L -- Textile m -- paper, multilayer P -- glass, porcelain and coarse pottery
 
Contents of package marking
 
(1) UN packaging symbol;
 
(2) Type code of package;
 
(3) Packaging (x for I, II, III packaging; y for II, III packaging; Z for III packaging) and the relative density of the liquid (solid in kg represents the maximum total amount);
 
(4) The hydraulic test pressure through which the inner package passes is expressed by the experimental pressure accurate to 10KPA (s for solid);
 
(5) Two digits after the year of manufacture / or repair of the package (months shall be indicated for 1H and 3H);
 
(6) The country of approval of the package / or repair (in accordance with the international motor vehicle identification symbol);
 
(7) Manufacturer / repair shop code or authorized code.
 
(8) If it is repaired, there should be "R" and "L" if applicable.
